Dear Editor:

Our hearts are overflowing with gratitude and love for all the efforts by many people before, during the day of Big Dane’s Memorial 5k Walk/Run.

The time spent by all who went to businesses and individuals to collect money for Central Maine Community College Education Foundation so there can be a scholarship in our beloved son’s name, Dane A. Bonang, that will go on for more years then he would have lived that will now be established.

Our goal was $4,000 and we have over $5,000 and money is still coming in. Many thanks to all.

We want to thank the businesses and individuals who sponsored, donated and participated in the event. The many people who cooked, baked and brought their items to the event.

Thanks to the businesses who donated items and certificates for the raffle, and all who worked with us at the event. We really appreciated your efforts, kindness and caring that this community has shown us over the past year and continues to show us.

This was very special to us as October is Dane’s birthday month and we wanted to celebrate with an event that everyone could participate in and would do some good for others. This scholarship will do that. We hope to do this annually in memory of his birthday. Thank you so very much.
