Boothbay Region Community Resources Council now a nonprofit
The IRS has granted the status of 501(c)3 for the Boothbay Region Community Resources Council
The council would like to thank Melissa Whitt, Esq., the attorney who assisted with the paperwork and filing of the 501(c)3; Chip Griffin’s office; and Tom Tavenner, Esq.
Thanks also go to all those on the board and all of their volunteers who help with the programs offered in the community that had so much to do with this accomplishment.
Founded by local clergy, BRCRC is a conference of schools, town offices, churches and other nonprofits on the Boothbay peninsula whose mission is to assist those in need by providing funds, information and referrals in a confidential and collaborative manner. They are now getting their governing committees in order and their programs more structured.
Through the Community Navigator Program, the BRCRC strives to inform the residents of Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor, Southport and Edgecomb about social services available that may provide help. In 2012 the Boothbay Region Community Resources received the Boothbay Harbor Region Chamber of Commerce community Service Award.
“This service helps the Boothbay peninsula residents to navigate the troubled waters of their lives at no charge and in a confidential manner,” said Michaela Stone, a licensed social worker and the BRCRC’s Community Navigator.
Our initiatives include Community Fuel Assistance, Community Woodpile, also known as the Woodchucks, Community Navigator Program, Community Lunch Programs, Community Clothing Closet, Set for Success Back to School Program, Boothbay Region Food Pantry, Community Garden, and they are also working on new initiatives to provide help in the community.
