Dear Editor:

To the lovely girl who leaped from her car to catch a rolling soda bottle from my cart in the Hannaford parking lot on Tuesday, July 15. In this act of kindness, her cell phone hit the pavement and its screen got chipped.

You declined my offer to repair it with complete grace. You’ll carry that chip to remind you of doing something instinctively to help a stranger. You are why living here is “the way life should be.”

In thanks — I’ll never forget.
