Public Works repairing broken pipe downtown

A number of parking spaces downtown have been blocked off due to a collapsed drainage pipe in downtown Boothbay Harbor. The public works crew is hard at work figuring out how far the damage extends and what needs to be done to repair the issue.
The damage appears to be located in the alley between Coastal Maine Popcorn and A Silver Lining, though spaces have been blocked off down the road past Slick's Boutique and The Ritz where the storm drains continue. Large sandbags are piled in front of Slick's and The Ritz, and according to Adele Bielli, one of the owners of Slick's, is is because the issue with the drains has caused flooding in the basements. In Bielli's case, a great deal of merchandise is kept in the basement for the “bargain basement” sales.
According to Paul Roberts, who owns Coastal Maine Popcorn with his wife Julie, the crew said they might be working for several days.
It is currently unknown how long the parking spaces will be unavailable. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
