Ocean Point Column: The season begins
As the month progresses so does the activity here at Ocean Point. The tennis nets are up thanks to Brent Wyman, there have already been three weddings at the chapel, and the inn is open for dining.
The Ocean Point Community Trust board is currently seeking someone to take over the position of buildings and grounds. If interested please contact Kate Turpie. Sue Taylor is also seeking volunteers to assist in helping with ceremonies at the chapel. Please call her if interested. The activities committee is seeking volunteers for various activities; please check the calendar for the schedule. Ginny Kern will be here as AD June 23, activity calendars should be available sometime that week at the Casino. The calendar is also available on the website.
The Chicken Barbecue will be held on Saturday, July 5 at 6:30 p.m. There is only one seating this year and a limited amount of tickets will be sold. Information regarding ticket sales will be available soon so please check the column, the website and the bulletin board at the casino.
Many Ocean Pointers have now returned for the summer. Jack and Marilyn Heise are here with their son Bill his wife Kathy and their sons Graham and Jackson. Their grandson Jackson attends St. Rita’s School in Chicago where he maintains an A average. As part of his visit with his grandparents he is touring Bowdoin College. Bill and Kathy’s friends Marianne, Eamon and Liam Cashin are here visiting from La Grange, Ill., as well and thoroughly enjoying their stay,
Carl and Dee Notarangeli have returned and will have a busy summer ahead with family activities and celebrations.
Helen Evans Struve and her husband Walt are here for a month and enjoying catching up with many of their neighbors, Helen is the daughter of Fran Evans.
Hattie Slayton was here with her friends for a girls’ weekend to celebrate her 13th birthday.
Congratulations to Jess Klein, daughter of Pete and Barb Klein, who recently celebrated her high school graduation.
We would like to extend our condolences to the family of Lisa Perry who recently passed away after a long illness. Lisa is the great granddaughter of Auguste and Louisa Bocquel, the grand niece of Alice B. Hartwell and cousin of Alice L. Hartwell. Her dad Durwood “Moe” Carey, her husband Dan, daughter Alexandra, brother Craig and cousin Alice L. Hartwell survive her. There will be a celebration of Lisa’s life later this summer.
