Volunteer opportunities at Boothbay Railway Village
Dear Editor:
I have been volunteering at the Boothbay Railway Village Museum for over six years and it is always a wonderful adventure. There as so many things to choose from: trains, autos, fire engines, tractors, Boothbay region historical buildings, model trains, festivals, historical equipment and pictures, and even Thomas the Tank Engine.
Where else can you learn about how folks lived in our region back in the 1930s, ride in a fire truck or Model T, see how model trains are built and their layouts come to life, see tractors and learn how to drive and maintain them, and ride on a narrow gauge steam train?
Volunteers have their own room to store their personal items, a refrigerator for lunches, a central location for scheduling, job descriptions and training. The museum is in need of more volunteers to help keep all of these wonderful displays and events running. The opportunities are endless. Please check the museum out. You will be glad you did.
