Grateful for fire departments
Dear Editor:
I’d like to take this opportunity to publicly show my gratitude to the fire departments of Southport, Boothbay and Boothbay Harbor, and other public safety personnel, for their prompt response to the early morning fire at my Bridge House Apartments on Southport. Fortunately, everyone was able to exit the structures safely. My condolences go out to Mr. James Finnley, a longtime occupant of one of the apartments, who was forced to relocate.
As I walked over the bridge where I first saw what remained of the structure, it was reassuring to see so many familiar people, from whom I received numerous encouraging words. It’s a tribute to the close-knit community in which we live.
For those of you wondering why the burned-out structure remains, I’m awaiting permission from my insurance company to tear down the debris.
