Dear Editor:

I’m hoping the letter title got your attention and you’re reading his letter. Some of our region's most dedicated athletes take to the streets each afternoon during track season to train. Although I would probably miss seeing them running around town, I would rather know they were hurdling, running and jumping on a track instead on streets and in hallways. And I would probably stop by sometimes to watch.

As part of the fundraising efforts to get them off the streets and onto that track, the Community On Track Committee is sponsoring the 5th annual Lobster Roll 5k Walk/Run on July 26. We’ve made a lot of progress over the past year and are excited to make this a reality for the entire community to enjoy.

We are currently looking for race sponsors (businesses or individuals) and encourage all who would like to see a community track built in the region to consider sponsoring the race this year.
