Need names to say thanks
Dear Editor:
I stepped out of the bus in Wiscasset, thoroughly jet lagged, exhausted by a challenging trip, and laden with six months worth of luggage.
That was May 11, Mother's Day. Not wanting to bother my friends, and since my cell phone was not working, my plan had been to hopefully call for a taxi from Huber's, where I would have a snack while I waited for the cab.
Upon arrival, I saw that a flag flapped, saying “Open” and I thought that my plan would work — but Huber's was, in fact, closed.
What was I to do? Although I am in good form for someone in her eighties, I found it hard to find the courage to cross Route 27 with my three bags and thumb a ride there, to get to my home in Boothbay Harbor.
Fortunately, I espied a couple getting ready to leave in their car. I begged them to take me, which they graciously did.
I was so tired and out of it that their name did not register, (do I remember that they live in Ocean Point?) and I cannot formally thank them as I would like to. I hope that they read this letter, and receive my heartfelt thanks, with my apologies.
