Dear Editor:

I write once again about the closing of St. Andrews’ emergency room and inpatient beds.

I fully agree with Jane Good and Margaret Perritt who are carrying the torch for reestablishing St. Andrews Hospital.

As I mentioned previously, I am 94 years old, and spend some of the summer on Southport next to the ocean. I rather doubt an ambulance will get me from near Newagen to Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta after I tumble over a rock by the shore, or before I expire. Stay off the rocks? I do like a quick dive in the ocean.

And, I'm not the only “oldie” on Southport, or other coastal locals some distance from Damariscotta.

We are all vulnerable and medical care as far away as Miles may be too far.
