Towns will bear ambulance costs without help from LincolnHealth
Last year, the towns of Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor and Southport shared a $250,000 stipend from LincolnHealth to offset increased ambulance costs due to the closure of St. Andrews emergency department. This year, the towns will not be so fortunate.
In an email, to Boothbay and Boothbay Harbor’s town managers and Southport Selectman Gerry Gamage, Lincoln County Healthcare Vice President Stacey Miller indicated there would be no additional financial assistance this year from the healthcare organization.
“We look forward to continuing our support for the EMS system but have chosen to do so by supporting education and training opportunities, as well as the Community Paramedicine program,” Miller wrote.
Southport voters approved a $36,084 stipend for Boothbay Region Ambulance Service in March. Boothbay’s proposed share of the 2015 ambulance budget is $146,155 and Boothbay Harbor’s $168,487.
