A special Valentine's meeting
Lori Demers, better known as “Mama D,” will be featured at the February 12 meeting of the Boothbay Region Garden Club. Mama D’s is a popular restaurant in the region with one of the favorite entrees being her crustless veggie pie.
Lori was born in Lewiston and moved to Montreal for her educational years. Growing up she had no special interest in cooking. While living in California for the next 10 years she worked in an Irish pub where her culinary talents evolved. Moving back to Maine, she established several food-related businesses in Boothbay Harbor ending up at her present “homey” location on Union Street, Boothbay Harbor.
For the meeting, Lori will demonstrate techniques, preparations and shortcuts with her culinary skills for producing a romantic Valentine’s Day dinner. A short business meeting will commence at noon followed by a “bring your own lunch” and then the program. Lori will provide dessert. The meeting will also feature “romantic” Valentine’s table settings designed by teams of club members.
Everyone is invited to attend the meeting to be held at St. Columba’s Church on Emery Lane. For more information, call Sandy Abernathy at 207-633-0392 or Alice Schambra at 207-633-7162.
