Vote for Splaine
Dear Editor:
I’m writing to ask that you vote for Peggy Splaine for re-election to the consolidated Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor School Committee, (the CSD) at the election to be held on Friday, May 2, in Boothbay Harbor.
I have been her colleague on the committee for nine years, so I have come to know her work quite well, especially so in the last six years when she has been the CSD Committee Chairperson.
As a CSD Committee member she has supported our schools effectively, spending time in the schools, and thoughtfully supporting the CSD school budget. In all of our budget meetings, she has always been aware of the need to keep the taxpayer in mind while at the same time supporting a strong education for the students of our two towns.
As chair, she has been fair and respectful to everyone. She has worked extra hours over and above our regular meetings to ensure good communications between the Committee and other groups and taxpayers in our two towns. She also ran for and became the president of the Maine School Board Association. In this role, she came to fully understand the challenges facing schools all over the State. She brought this knowledge to her work here as a member of the CSD Committee. She also got a thorough grounding in the operation of Maine State education law, which has helped the CSD committee in doing its work.
Peggy brings this wealth of experience to the job, which will continue to benefit the community. On top of this, she brings her own personal set of values, which I know to emphasize kindness and respect, and the importance of working together. Please vote for Peggy for School Committee to ensure that her experience, and her values continue to play a role in guiding our schools.
