Forrest Carver for Edgecomb Select Board
Dear Editor:
We are writing to support the candidacy of Forrest Carver for the Edgecomb Select Board. As a lifelong resident of Edgecomb, Forrest demonstrates a broad understanding of the many factors that make Edgecomb a strong community. In addition, he possesses the youthful energy to engage meaningfully with important issues while also addressing quality of life topics that affect all of us. And finally, as a young leader, Forrest’s open-mindedness and positive nature make him an ideal team player to work with our existing town officials, who have been hard at work on difficult issues.
Edgecomb residents have long welcomed young families as a key component of a vibrant community, and the Edgecomb Eddy School is a source of pride. Forrest, as a parent of school-age children, is a strong link to the school community, able to gauge their input in major discussions that impact them and the education of their children. We suggest it is time for this next generation to take a leading role in important discussions related to the school and other town services.
Having worked with Forrest many years on various town boards, committees, and volunteer activities, we are impressed by his enthusiasm for preserving all that is great about Edgecomb. He is currently working with Edgecomb's Historical Society to engage with the State Department to enhance the picnic area at the Fort. As an active member of our Fire Department, Forrest has also earned certification as an EMT and understands the workings of these vital services in our town. As an active contributor to the planning of Edgecomb’s yearlong 250th celebration in 2024, Forrest organized a road race, which resulted in a multigenerational fun day for all!
The words “data,” “efficiency,” and “accountability” seem to pop up everywhere lately to define what government should do, but leading a strong community involves much more. Being a leader requires the ability to work together with many different stakeholders, to have productive and positive discussions, to think creatively, and to reach decisions through collaborative problem solving.
We hope you will join us on May 17 to vote for Forrest Carver for Edgecomb Select Board. Let’s support a new generation to lead Edgecomb into the future!
