BRHS swim team awards presented

The small but mighty Boothbay Region High School swim team finished their season this week with an awards night and banquet. The team is made up of freshman Allie Smart, sophomore Camden Peck and senior captain Hannah Hills. The team, which co-ops with Wiscasset (BoothCasset) on a regular year, only had Boothbay swimmers this year. This made it so the team could be Seahawks. They had suits and caps with Seahawks. The team practices daily Monday thru Fridays from mid-November to mid-February at the Wiscasset Community Center where they are coached by Nori Lund. She has been coaching the team for the last four years. The Seahawks practice with Lincoln Academy and the Hyde School, also coached by Lund.
Lund, who only hands out the Most Improved Swimmer (MIS) and the Coach's Award each year, had this to to say about her recipients:
Allie Smart received the MIS award. Lund said, "Allie has shown great improvement over the course of the season, not only in the pool, but also in her confidence of herself as well. I see multiple cut times in her future."
The coach's award went to Hannah Hills. Lund said, "Hannah embodies everything you want from an athlete and team member. Always shows up ready to work, almost never complains, puts in 100% both in and out of the pool. She has set a goal to qualify individually throughout the season in all events offered at the state swim meet. She has obtained that goal two years in a row now. She is always cheering on her teammates before, during and after an event. She will be missed!"
Next year the team is expected to have at least two more swimmers from both Boothbay and Wiscasset.
Congratulations to the team. They should be proud of their accomplishments.
