BRHS seniors honored Feb. 3
In front of a full house at Porter Memorial Gymnasium, nine Boothbay Region High School (BRHS) seniors were honored Feb. 3 for their dedication to the school. Students from pep band, swimming, cheering and boys basketball were recognized before the Seahawks' game against visiting Lisbon.
The ceremony included a presentation of a carnation to each student, who gave it to their parents, guardians, or other relatives in the audience.
“This flower symbolizes the appreciation Boothbay Region High School has for the years of hard work and dedication of our student athletes and the years of support from the people that have helped make their participation possible,” said announcer Normand “Skip” L’Heureux.
The following students were honored:
Pep Band
Neal Baldwin, son of Jon and Sarah Baldwin, has been in pep band for four years. He plans to attend the University of New England to study biology.
Pep Band and Swimming
Hannah Hills, daughter of Michael and Heather Hills, has participated in band since the fourth grade, has been on pep band for four years, and has been on the swim team for four seasons. She plans to attend the United States Merchant Marine Academy to study transportation operations and graduate as naval officer with an Unlimited Captain’s License.
Cheering
Skyla Carrier, daughter of Shannon Leeman and Marc Carrier, has been on the cheering team for two seasons. She plans to attend the University of Maine to study nursing.
Bailey Lewis, daughter of Chelsea Lewis and granddaughter of Brenda Bennett, has been on the cheering team for two seasons. She plans to attend college to study pre-medical sciences.
Boys Basketball
Maddox Cusumano, son of Michael and Corinne Cusumano, has been in the basketball program for three seasons. He plans to attend Southern Maine Community College to study business and play baseball.
Braden Davis, son of Ben and Danelle Davis, has been in the program for four seasons. He plans to enter the workforce in construction.
Spencer Wenners, son of Patrick Wenners and Nicole McKay, has been with the program for four seasons. He plans to enter the workforce as a lobsterman.
Aidric Canada, son of Kyle Canada and Erica Moser and stepson to Ashley Canada, has been with the program for four seasons. He plans to join the Coast Guard.
Tyson French, son of Ginnie French and stepson of Stephen Arsenault, has been with the program for four seasons. He plans to apprentice at Coutts as a utility line worker in Gardiner.
