Sewer district continues preparation for sea wall
On Dec. 7, Boothbay Harbor Sewer District continued discussions on the upcoming sea wall project. The plans will go out to bid in March, with hopes of breaking ground at the end of summer. Until then, the district has been preparing the area, including removing several trees around the construction site and in other sectors of the property.
The district is also working on getting more grant funding. Phase 1 of the sea wall project is estimated to cost $8.1 million; $6 million has been covered by grants so far with the district expected to contribute about $700,000 to that. The end cost won't be finalized until the project goes out to bid.
In other action, the board re-elected its officers: James Stormont as treasurer, Russell Hoffman as clerk, and Deryl Kipp as chair.
The district issued several abatements due to breakages causing account overcharges, including a $3,620 credit on the account of James Schweppe of Squirrel Island, and a $404.78 credit for Steven Rosser.
