Boothbay Harbor Rotary Club
Cindy Wade holds a bachelor’s in nursing and a master’s in healthcare administration. Early in her career, she spent six years as a Commissioned Officer and Nurse in the Navy in a variety of roles. Cindy returned to Maine in 1994 to work in Lincoln County. She is currently the president for LincolnHealth, now called MaineHealth LincolnHealth. She lives in Sheepscot Village with her husband James and has three sons.
Cindy provided us with an excellent overview of the new naming or “branding” for the recent updating of the logo and names of our hospitals, practices, administrative offices and other locations to streamline and clarify quality and access to care. Locally we are LincolnHealth with our “Miles Hospital” now being called Lincoln Hospital or “LincolnHealth Miles Campus” and our Boothbay Clinic for example being “LincolnHealth Boothbay Harbor Campus.”
Each section for MaineHealth has a defined region such as we are part of the coastal region from Belfast to Brunswick. Or for example, Portland is the southern region. Again, this is all in effort to streamline care and referral access.
Another health care highlight Cindy reviewed was our senior living care needs and facilities. The previously planned larger senior care facility in conjunction with Sandy River that was to be built in Damariscotta did not work out and has been discontinued. Sandy River is planning their own larger facility in Damariscotta for memory care and assisted living, but they are not part of MaineHealth. MaineHealth continues to work on supporting our senior care with providers, specialists, and staff to enhance service and referral.
MaineHealth LincolnHealth is also enhancing access to infusion services for both chemotherapy and other intravenous health care needs. And finally, improvements to local radiology care are happening with easier local access to more advanced machines and providers.
Cindy's passion for overseeing and understanding all our health care needs was apparent both in her presentation as well as her thoughtful answers to many interesting questions. Thank you, Cindy, for joining us tonight.
Guests: Jan Reit and Jordi del Rio, Conxa Packard’s husband.
