Trevett Column: Merriment on Dec. 18
Plan to join the holiday merriment on Wednesday, Dec. 18 for the final BICA potluck of the season. As is the tradition, the BICA officers and trustees provide the main course food so all that is needed a dessert to share. As always, you are welcome to bring your beverage of choice. BICA will have water and coffee available. See you at 5:30 p.m.
This is a great time to bring some guests to enjoy the warm BICA hospitality—maybe neighbors that haven’t been in a while (or ever) or some folks new to the island. And speaking of new folks, Marianne brought her new neighbors, Aaron and Alexis, to the November potluck. The potlucks offer a fun way to stay connected.
The frozen turkey raffle benefitting our local Food Pantry was most successful with Judy going home with the bird. The basket will again be passed at the December potluck so that with BICA’s match of the raffle funds a very generous donation will be going to the Food Pantry. This should give a little boost to the Pantry’s needs for the upcoming holiday and winter seasons.
Thanks to Emily and Judy for hosting the annual tea. Presents for the island children got wrapped, Dalton helped with wreath making, Patti helped with making cards, and attendees enjoyed great socializing and delicious cookies and tea.
And a big thanks to Mel, Robert, Dave, Rob and Bill for organizing the November potluck. A great job by the gentlemen with special thanks to Rob for the very original and most useful handyman centerpieces.
If you need some winter reading, please help yourself to any of the books on the windowsills. Since the hall will be closed for several months this is your last chance to stock up on reading material.
To save on heating expense the hall is closed until April, so no potlucks take place there. In the past folks have generously volunteered to host a BICA potluck in their home in January, February and March. Kim and Dave have stepped forward for the March potluck. If anyone else would like to volunteer for a turn in January or February please get in touch with Evelyn. Information regarding the location of the potluck will be provided by email only so be sure you are on the BICA list. If you are not, contact Judy at judyb1625@gmail.com to get added.
As we get into the colder weather, you may know of some folks on the island that need a little assistance. If so, please let Evelyn know. And as always, she (207-380-6977 or evelynshahan@gmail.com ) is happy to answer any questions you may have about BICA, its mission or its events.
