New England children's author Susan Edwards Richmond will celebrate the launch of her fourth book for young children, “Night Owl Night,”  with signings at the Sherman's Book Store and Sherman’s Maine Coast Book Shop in Boothbay Harbor Aug. 26 and Damariscotta on Aug. 27 from 1 to 3 p.m.

“Night Owl Night” (Charlesbridge) released Aug. 8, is an introduction to bird banding and capture-and-release research, as well as a mother-daughter story about owl conservation and patience, perseverance, and wonder. Previous titles include two nature-based picture books featuring children participating in community science adventures, “Bird Count” and “Bioblitz! Counting Critters” (both published by Peachtree), and a science activity book for preschoolers, “Science Play” (Storey Publishing). Bird Count is a winner of the Parent's Choice Silver Award, the International Literacy Association's Primary Fiction Award, and a Mathical Honor Book.
