Michael Culver is the featured artist of the show and he will present a book signing and talk on Thursday, Aug. 10 from 3 to 4 p.m.
His new book, “Sparring in the Dark: The Art and Life Of Maine Painter Henry Strater,” chronicles the untold story of Ogunquit and Lost Generation artist Henry Strater who first contemplated a literary career had strong ties to the literary community in the interwar years. He is known for two portraits of Hemingway and for his illustrations of Ezra Pound’s Cantos. These and many other facts and illuminating anecdotes and images will be the subject of Michael Culver’s presentation.
Copies of the book will be available for purchase (check or cash) and for signing by the author. Mathias Fine Art is located at 10 Mathias Drive, Trevett, just a few scenic miles from Boothbay Center. Don’t miss this special event.
