Seahawks win season finale

    In Unified basketball play, the Boothbay Region High School Seahawks won the last game of the season against Lincoln Academy Eagles Tuesday night, March 7, 56-54. The Seahawks finish the season 2-2-1. The team played at home to a crowd of about 90.

    Power forward Eric Maki led the team in both points and rebounds. He scored 24 points, including an electrifying fast break layup, and had 28 rebounds.

    Shooting guard “Downtown” Mathias Fanslau scored 19 points, including three 3-pointers from the arc, and had 15 rebounds. Eddie Carpenter had seven rebounds and two points, and Brian Abbe scored five points, including a nothing-but-net 3-pointer from the corner.

    Point guard Grace Giles scored four points in the low post, had three rebounds and one assist. Small forward Anthony “A-train” Angelico scored two points. Sydney Blake had one assist.

    The game was officiated by Charlie Ault and announced by Coach Dennis Dacus.

    Suzie Edwards, team helper and player, sang the “Star-Spangled Banner” at the start of the event. The halftime show included a dance party for both teams, BRHS cheerleaders, coaches and fans.

    The team celebrated the season’s end with a pizza party following the game. Coach Dacus and Assistant Coach Tanya Thibault congratulated the team on a great season.

    The Seahawks were 0-2-1 before winning 48-46 against Hall-Dale in Farmington Friday, March 3 in a game rescheduled due to snow. Leading scorers in that game were Fanslau, Maki, Giles and Carpenter.
