‘Abstract’ and Ann Slocum solo show openings
The all “Abstract” show is open at River Arts in Damariscotta and will run until Oct. 15.
Juror, Celeste Henriquez, selected 82 works from 146 submissions of sculpture, painting, photography, print making and assemblage. A full range of styles exhibited from expressionistic to minimalism, this show represents artists in a dazzling and surprising body of work from all over the state of Maine.
River Arts invites the public to the artists’ reception on Saturday, Sept. 10 from 2 to 4 p.m. This will be a wonderful opportunity for art enthusiasts to meet the artists and view an unusual show of art.
In conjunction with the main gallery’s “Abstract” show, the exceptional work of Ann Slocum is on display in the River Room. This solo show, “A Retrospective,” holds meticulously crafted works from many years of Slocum’s artistic endeavors. Wall works of constructed papers and paint; assemblages from found materials; and even an example of her clock series are beautifully displayed. This show runs until Sept. 21. Slocum will be in the gallery for the combined artist’s reception on Saturday, Sept. 10.
