Help the Catholic Church
Dear Editor:
I just went over to the Catholic Church on the east side of the harbor to purchase a raffle ticket for their roofing fund. The Register's story last week explained that the roofer they hired did a bad job and the church is out much of the money and it needs to redo the shingling and waterproofing. They need to raise $70k to redo that roof which is leaking.
I did not expect a tour and such a warm greeting for a few tickets - but I got one and I must say that anyone that’s seen this beautiful church lit up from across the harbor should also consider going inside and seeing the warm carpenter gothic interior. It is a model of the style in both restraint and balance and the dark woodwork against the beautiful windows created a tour-worthy surprise for me. Thank you Becky for your time and tour.
I urge all who appreciate this church to go themselves, and see the inside, and hopefully help this wonderful building survive into the next century.
