Considering the position you are running for, what do you feel are the three most pressing issues (350 words or less): I believe that in order for any community to thrive, great care and resources must be used to insure that our future generations have a well funded and staffed school system which provides a world class education, understanding the importance of not only the core subjects like math and the sciences but also the subjects that allow for expression and abstract thinking that the creative arts like music and fine art can achieve. Boothbay is located in one of the most beautiful places in the country.
Its forests, its many lakes, ponds, rivers and lobster filled island-dotted coastal community offers not only an amazing place to live, but also attracts tourism and business from all over the country, which is why it’s of the utmost importance that all of this is kept clean, safe and pristine. In order for the Boothbay community to be a successful town, it needs to maintain and operate a place where it attracts year round business and families to its community. A way to help allow for this is by ramping up the Industrial Park with town water and sewage. This would allow larger businesses to operate and employ larger swaths of the community year round.
Any other thoughts on why you are running or what you can bring to the office? 150 words or less: I bring a unique way of thinking and finding solutions to problems than most people that hold this office generally do. I have had to find creative ways to get funding for projects, as well as stretching a dollar with shoestring budgets and to collaborate with many people with different interests and finding common ground to push projects through in a way that everyone is proud of. As a professional visual artist I have worked and collaborated with some of the biggest companies and brands in the world: Walt Disney, Swarovski, Apple, Montblanc, Myspace, The Tonight Show, KCRW, Coachella, Refinery29, Smirnoff, Roche Bobois, Baxter of California and Frank Lloyd Wright, to name a few. Everything I’ve learned working on projects with these companies I will use to achieve great things within our quaint coastal Maine town of Boothbay. If given the chance, I will be honored to be your selectman.
