Boothbay Harbor was the location for the first ever Mini Weenie Cook ~ Off at Brady’s the day after Christmas. Twenty teams entered their favorite mini weenie dishes and battled for the judges’ recognition. Larry Knapp, Riley Mitchell, Sara Packard, and celebrity judge Keirston Andrews carefully tasted and debated their way through the row of crock pots and carefully placed platters (and one air fryer!) to finally award team ‘33’ with the one of a kind Silver Weenie Statue. Dave Barter of Boothbay led his co-conspirator Andrea Lowery to victory with a “Little Smokie Jalapeno Corn Muffin Weenie.”
Honorable mention went to team Todd “I’m Cheating” Plummer for entering his mother Suzanne’s home cooked nostalgic mini weenie recipe. When asked the ingredients Plummer could not respond because he never was in the kitchen when they were made.
The only complaint heard from the afternoon’s activities was from Judge Andrews who had the really “bad meat sweats” after judging was complete.
Next year’s cook off contest is already in the works but who knows if it will be weenies again!!
