Wed, 09/16/2020 - 11:00am

The medical team at the Boothbay Region Health Center has been awarded $24,000 to act as the town of Southport’s Public Health Official for COVID-19 support through funding from the state’s Keep Maine Healthy municipality grant program. Duties include educating and informing Southport residents, visitors, businesses, and first responders about how best to prevent COVID-19 outbreaks, deal with safety and sanitation, as well as field questions about the disease.

The team leaders are the Health Center's Director of Medical Operations, Jennie McNeil, PMHNP-BC, Clinical Care Manager, Robyn Ham-Taylor, EMT, and Becky Alley, Sr. Health Coordinator and Safety Officer.

The Health Center team will be consulting with town officials on the correct verbiage and location of signage, hand-sanitizing stations, and face mask distribution. PPE and other supplies will be provided to first responders on Southport Island. Questions or concerns related to COVID-19 will be answered by the Health Center team on a 24-hour hotline specifically for residents, visitors, and businesses to Southport Island.
