Ocean Point Horribles Parade rolls on

The annual July 4 Horribles Parade at Ocean Point, Boothbay again featured the drum beating, red, white and blue – either with American flags, in dress, or vehicle adornments – as well as characters of many kinds. This year’s parade was done all by vehicle due to the coronavirus pandemic but the residents and visitors of Ocean Point, lined along Shore Road from Grimes Cove all the way to the new Ocean Point Colony Trust’s new casino, enjoyed the traditional event once again.

According to Ocean Point columnist Maryellen Bertrand, “the tradition started in the 1930s by beloved Ocean Pointers Joe Wellington (Jean Slayton’s father).” Slayton, now 92, was on hand to view the parade.

Here are some scenes from the fun parade.
