Boothbay Harbor annual meeting, election details on safety

Boothbay Harbor elections will be in the Boothbay Harbor Fire Department 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 19 and the annual meeting in the Boothbay Region High School gymnasium at 9 a.m. June 20. Health and safety guidelines will make the democratic process look different this year.

Municipal officers at the polls will be shielded by plexiglass and only six voters will be allowed into the fire station at one time, said Town Clerk Michelle Farnham. Markings will signify six-foot spacings between voters along the entrance to the building. Face masks and distancing will be required.

The town meeting will have a maximum of 50 occupants per state guidelines. That will include all municipal officers, said Farnham. Voters will have first priority for entrance and non-residents will have least priority. Masks will be required though there will be a designated space for those unable to wear masks due to medical conditions.
