Maxmin announces state Senate campaign for District 13 to challenge Dow

Tue, 01/14/2020 - 12:45pm

Representative Chloe Maxmin, D-Nobleboro, announced her campaign for Senate District 13 on Jan. 13, 2020. Maxmin will challenge Senate Republican Minority Leader Dana Dow. The campaign will celebrate the launch with a community potluck on Friday, Jan. 24 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the North Nobleboro Community Center.

Maxmin grew up on her family’s farm in Nobleboro. She is a graduate of Lincoln Academy and Harvard College and has devoted her life to fighting for Maine, working as a community organizer for over fifteen years. Maxmin currently represents House District 88 (Chelsea, Whitefield, Jefferson, and half of Nobleboro) in the Maine State House. She was elected to represent District 88 with strong bi-partisan support in 2018. Her commitment is to a new kind of politics that truly represents communities, respects the will of the voters, and builds on what we have in common instead of what divides us.

“This campaign is about everyone in District 13. It’s not about party. It’s about values. Our work is about respect, listening, inclusivity, and fighting for each other. It’s also about modeling a new kind of politics that is responsive and transparent, that prioritizes our community, and can be held accountable by the people,” said Maxmin.

Maxmin has committed to running a 100% positive Senate campaign. She is also running as a Clean Elections candidate.

Senate District 13 includes the towns of Alna, Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor, Bremen, Bristol, Damariscotta, Edgecomb, Hibberts Gore, Jefferson, Louds Island, Monhegan Island Plantation, Newcastle, Nobleboro, Somerville, South Bristol, Southport, Waldoboro, Washington, Westport Island, Whitefield, Windsor, and Wiscasset.

Join Maxmin on Friday, Jan, 24 for the celebratory potluck at the North Nobleboro Community Center (554 Upper East Pond Road, Nobleboro).
