Thanksgiving

by Leanne Guenther

The year has turned its circle,

The seasons come and go.

The harvest is all gathered in

And chilly north winds blow.

Orchards have shared their treasures,

The fields, their yellow grain.

So open wide the doorway-

Thanksgiving comes again!

With the celebration of Thanksgiving drawing near, there was a hum of craft activity last week in the Gregory Wing of St. Andrews Village.

On a dull and chilly morning, the garden therapy volunteers from the Boothbay Region Garden Club arrived bringing several boxes of colorful artificial flowers as well as lots of bits and pieces that were quickly distributed around the tables of the gathered lady crafters.

Busy fingers put together 16 bags with flowers, stickers, holiday greetings and their names. They could easily be carried by the handles to their rooms or shared among those who could not participate.

As a second activity the group compiled a list of the things for which they are grateful. The responses were then added to a banner of fall leaves which will be displayed in the common room.

Finally, as the group was still up for more fun, they were asked to try their hand at working a holiday puzzle. The race was on to see who could find the most Thanksgiving related words. The highlight of the day was the warm companionship shared during the project by volunteers and residents.

Garden Therapy projects go a long way in helping to build community among the Village residents. Join the Garden Club and join in the fun the therapy team brings to the Village.
