BRHS homecoming parade, bonfire

A few sprinkles of rain didn’t dampen the spirits of Boothbay Region High School students and staff at the annual Boothbay Region High School homecoming parade and bonfire Thursday, Oct. 3.

The four classes’ finely decorated parade floats gathered in front of the Boothbay Harbor town office and were escorted up Townsend Avenue to the school by police cars and fire trucks. Parents, community members and visitors waved to the parade participants as they made their way to the school for the lighting of the bonfire.

Before Boothbay Harbor firefighters got the fire started, students added a few items from their floats to the pile of brush. Using kerosene and a few flares, the firefighters got the massive fire going in short order.

Homecoming games on Friday include the field hockey game vs. Winthrop at 3:30 and the football game vs. Sacopee Valley at 7 p.m.
