$200,000 matching gift for Oak Point Farm

Tue, 04/23/2019 - 8:30am

With a welcoming new accessible entrance and a fire-safe stairwell from the upstairs, the renovations are finally complete at the Boothbay Region Land Trust (BRLT) Oak Point Farm headquarters. The staff have been working diligently on getting the interior in order now that public use is officially allowed throughout the entirety of the building. The necessary renovations are done, so it is time to refocus our efforts on paying off the remainder of the property mortgage.

To that end, we are thrilled to announce a $200,000 matching gift challenge to kick off our 2019 push to close out the campaign. Beginning on Earth Day, every dollar donated towards the This Land is Your Land: Campaign for Oak Point Farm will be matched, up to $200,000!

Thanks to many of you, and a recent $100,000 grant from the Mildred E. McEvoy Foundation, fundraising efforts have already elicited $2.2 million of the $3 million goal for the campaign. Through the generosity of our community, Boothbay Region Land Trust has already paid for all work performed on the property and farmhouse, as well as $400,000 towards the $1 million property mortgage. These early mortgage payments are saving the Land Trust over $1,700 each month in interest payments.

With $600,000 left to pay on the property mortgage, we will be nearly at the campaign finish line with this privately funded matching gift. Every dollar counts, as your gift of $10 will generate $20, a $100 gift will generate $200, and so on! When the Oak Point Farm mortgage is finally paid off, Boothbay Region Land Trust staff and volunteers look forward to advancing our free environmental programs, while continuing to care for the public properties we all enjoy.

With your continued support, the This Land is Your Land: Campaign for Oak Point Farm will successfully fulfill the original scope of work, offering full public access to this spectacular property. Whether it is a planned gift, a pledge, or a cash donation, every gift of any amount is meaningful support for this project, and the Boothbay region community.
