Lincoln County Historical Association lecture Feb. 3

Doreen Conboy to speak on “Early Lincoln County Paintworks, and the Stories Behind Them.”

The Lincoln County Historical Association will launch its 2019 Winter Lecture Series at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 3, in the Communications (“911”) Building behind the Lincoln County Court House in Wiscasset. Artist and photographer Doreen Conboy will give a visual tour of decorative wall treatments such as stenciling, mural painting, trompe l’oeil and grain painting used in early 19th century Maine. Ms. Conboy’s presentation highlights her 18 years of research and photography on the subject.

Ms. Conboy earned a degree in art from the University of Southern Maine. Since 1984 she has done custom restoration paintwork at many sites, including National Historic Register homes and Historic New England properties. She has been a member of the Painters Guild, the Historical Society of Early American Decoration ( HSEAD ) and is currently the archivist/historian for the town of Alna.
