Rotary Auction set to go

Tue, 07/31/2018 - 8:45am

On Saturday, Aug. 4, the 61st annual Rotary Auction on Sherman Field, Boothbay Region High School will open its gates at 8 a.m. with the Live Auction beginning at 10 a.m. The Auction is the culmination of a year’s worth of hard work and dedication, and in the words of Rotary Club President Alice Mutch is “the cornerstone of our many gifts to the community and globe. Solving real problems takes real commitment and vision. For more than 110 years Rotary’s people of action have used their passion, energy and intelligence to take action on sustainable projects. From literacy and peace to water and health”

Rotarians and their friends in this community and beyond have been willing and proud to put “service above self.” And these are not just words. Rotarians have spent countless hours and resources picking up hundreds of donations, have planned and organized every detail to make the Auction more accessible, and have marshaled every Rotarian, as well as many friends of Rotary, in order to make this year’s Auction as successful as it can be. The proceeds of the Auction all go back into the community, right here on our peninsula, and around the world, wherever there’s a deep need that Rotarians are committed to fulfilling.
