Boothbay cages Bulldogs

The Seahawks are now just one win away from having the opportunity to play for their ultimate goal after a 55-43 victory over the Madison Bulldogs in a Western Maine semifinal at the Augusta Civic Center on Thursday night. The Waynflete Flyers are next on the agenda for the Seahawks as they will be playing in their second regional championship in three years and twelfth in the program's history.
A great all-round defensive effort and the ability of the Seahawks to get their transition game going, especially in the second half, finally wore down the Bulldogs who were limited to just six points including just one field goal in the fourth period.
Sophomore John Hepburn led the Seahawks with 20 points, Andrew Hallinan added 13 and Anthony DiMauro 10.
With the score tied late in the third quarter, the Seahawks got a little boost on a put back and drive to the hoop by DiMauro and a timely three-pointer from Hallinan to grab a five-point lead heading into the final period. Three straight hoops by John Hepburn, including one that came on a pass over the top of a little press Madison was applying, seemed to give the Seahawks the added confidence needed to finish the deal. The next deal is slated for 8:45 p.m. on Saturday when they face Waynflete who advanced to the final with a win over Dirigo.
