The Southport Memorial Library is now accepting donations for library volunteer Kathy Barter, who is on the mend but will need help from the community for her medical expenses.

Kathy spent every week here for years volunteering her time to reading stories, doing crafts and having parties for holidays and birthdays for the children of Southport. We would love it if we could get some donations for someone who gave so much to our library and community, said librarian Nora Lally in an email message to the newspaper.

Please give whatever you can to someone who devoted much of her life helping others. She really needs our help now, said Lally.

Kathy is currently in rehab at Midcoast Senior Health Center, 58 Baribeau Drive, in Brunswick, Room 2406B.
