Wilson Chapel’s 100th Year: Brian Donovan to preach on Aug. 6
Brian Donovan will lead the 9:30 a.m. service at the Wilson Memorial Chapel on Ocean Point this Sunday, Aug. 6. Clarissa Brown will be our musician. All are welcome! In addition to our regular morning service on Aug. 6, there will be a 1:30 p.m. commemorative 100th anniversary service that same day, followed by a reception. Please see our anniversary article inviting the community to this special celebration elsewhere in this Boothbay Register issue.
Brian is a second-year seminarian/master’s of divinity student and Dean’s Fellow at Boston University School of Theology. Given that early in the Wilson Chapel’s history there were summers when seminarians were hired for all services, we are delighted to have Brian preach at the morning service on Wilson Chapel’s Aug. 6th anniversary Sunday.
In 2014 Brian graduated from the University of Maine, Augusta, with a bachelor of arts in English degree focused on creative writing. During those undergraduate years, Brian had some minor publications of poetry, short stories, and also a graphic memoir. He continues to utilize creative writing in his ministry. Brian is currently a member of the Congregational Church of Boothbay Harbor and the first seminarian from said congregation. He is also a Member in Discernment through the Midcoast Maine Association of the UCC.
Brian has lived in Massachusetts, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. However, his home is here in Maine, where he has family ties to both Wiscasset and Boothbay. During the summer, Brian resides in East Boothbay with his mother, Penny Donovan, and their two dogs, Rocky and Pepe. Brian has one son, Nathaniel, who lives in Michigan with his mother.
Upon returning to Massachusetts for school this year, Brian will be interning at the Union Church in Waban from September through May. He will continue to reside and work at the former Andover Newton Theological School campus in Newton Centre during that time.
