Burnt Island art auction raises $32,000, paintings still available
On Wednesday, July 12, the “Keep the Light Burning” benefit auction for Burnt Island was a huge success. In the elegant setting of the Spruce Point Inn’s Pemaquid Hall, over $32,000 was raised to go towards the restoration of the region’s beloved lighthouse.
In the hour before the auction, attendees were able to peruse the artworks, while enjoying each other’s company. The venue, and all of its amenities, were donated by Spruce Point Inn’s owners Angelo DiGiulian and Joe Paolillo. Scrumptious hors d’oeuvres and champagne were served by the outstanding waitstaff and soothing background music was provided by Pete Thayer and Bob Knowles.
Out of the 46 artworks, donated by 23 talented artists, there is still an opportunity to become the owner of one. Just follow the Burnt Island Lighthouse Trail to purchase a painting that not only fits your décor, but supports the restoration campaign. These paintings can be found at the Down East Gallery on Route 27 in Edgecomb, Gleason Fine Art Gallery, and the Boothbay Harbor Region Chamber of Commerce.
The Keepers of the Burnt Island Light truly appreciate everybody’s support to keep the light burning for another 200 years.
