Cullina to speak at SIA event
How much does our unique geographic location affect the things we do? On Monday, July 17 at 7 p.m., the Southport Island Association will sponsor a presentation on “Gardening on the Edge of the Continent” at the Southport Town Hall, 361 Hendricks Hill Road.
William Cullina, executive director of the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens and resident of Southport, will talk about how the Gardens are addressing the challenges and opportunities of gardening on the Maine coast. They are trying out many perennial species and cultivars for suitability and adaptability. Cullina will detail some of the Garden’s triumphs, failures and “too soon to tells” in these endeavors.
This will be an informative and enjoyable evening complete with great visuals. Don’t forget to mark your calendar! Come learn how to be a more successful gardener on our edge of the continent.
