50501 Rally for Democracy on Boothbay Common April 19
A "Rally for Democracy" will take place on Saturday, April 19, from noon to 2 p.m. on the Boothbay Common in response to the 50501 National Call to Action.
Organized by local grassroots activists, the event will focus on raising awareness of the peril our democracy is in, and encouraging civic engagement.
The rally will begin with a roadside visibility action from noon until approximately 1 p.m. Participants are encouraged to bring signs and show their support.
Following the roadside action, a series of speakers will address the crowd. The speaker lineup includes:

● Founder of DemocracyFIRST: Jordan Wood
● Maine Secretary of State: Shenna Bellows
Nigel Calder is also a noted sailor and author. Jordan Wood is also a former leader of a campaign finance reform organization (End Citizens United) and Chief of Staff for Rep. Katie Porter (CA-45). Shenna Bellows previously served as State Senator for District 14.
