Planning board: No review for aquaculture, food vendor items
April 9, the Boothbay planning board determined two projects needed little action from the town.
The board determined applicant Carlton Yentsch did not need review or permitting for site plan approval or a shoreland permit for aquaculture at 176 Samoset Road, according to Code Enforcement Officer Geoff Smith. Smith said the board concluded there were no adverse impacts to abutters, and it was a non-conforming use replacing another non-conforming use, commercial lobstering. Last June, the selectboard granted an oyster lease approval at the property. Applicants said the 1.11-acre project should help grow around 100,000 oysters a year through suspended culture.
In a separate item, Smith said the planning board also determined the replacement of the mobile food vendor on Granary Way, Footbridge Fish Co., with a smaller mobile food vendor was "de minimis" and did not need further review or approval.
