Boothbay Harbor approves DMR float
The Department of Marine Resources (DMR) is getting a new float for its facility off McKown Point Road. March 24, Boothbay Harbor selectmen approved pile dolphins and an 8-foot by 80-foot float. According to Town Manager Julia Latter, the work is in anticipation of a new, 57-foot DMR vessel.
Draft minutes from the meeting show the project will also include replacing existing floats and pilings, moving floats, and adding a longer ramp. The board found the work would not obstruct navigation or cause injury to the rights of others. According to Latter, no abutters raised concerns or complaints.
In other business, selectmen approved an almost $11,200 bid from JB Roofing to install 31 windows at the town hall. Latter said the current single-pane windows are as old as the mid-80s building and expects the new ones to be more energy efficient. She said work should start by the beginning of May, and the project is covered by American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds.
Selectmen approved a purchase order for $13,500 to General Steel Corp. to begin the project for a new salt and sand shed. Latter said the order had to be approved to get engineering plans and begin permitting.
The board also approved and signed the warrant for the 2025 annual town meeting, scheduled for Saturday May 3 at the Boothbay Harbor fire station.
