Free medical equipment for all at Community Center
Need medical supplies? Or, better yet, have extra items lying around? The Boothbay Region Community Center’s Durable Medical Equipment program is ready to help.
The program was formed in 2018 to help supplement the cost of often expensive medical equipment for individuals with no health insurance, limited coverage or a fixed income. This isn’t limited to large-scale supplies like wheelchairs or mobility devices either. The center will also accept and disperse items like shower stools, disposable bed pads, diapers, shoehorns and everything in between.
“If it is medically related, we'll accept it,” said president Jerry Homer.
While the center inspects and disposes of any broken items, they make no guarantees. Individuals are asked to sign a waiver upon collection.
Donations and pickups are accepted during the center’s business hours: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., Monday – Friday except holidays. People can also call if they are interested in a particular item and arrange to collect it outside business hours. Call (207) 633-9876.
They ask that people not leave any supplies in the hallway outside the center.
