Southport Scouts attend Camporee

On September 21, Southport Island's Boy Scout Troop 238 attended the 51st annual Moosehorn International Camporee in Baring, which is located just outside of Calais on the Canadian border.
Enroute to the Camporee, Troop 238 visited the Cole Transportation Museum in Bangor and were given a guided tour by World War II veteran and Museum volunteer, Austin Carter.
Four Scout troops from Canada attended the Camporee and Troop 238 interacted with them throughout the event while competing at the following activities: orienteering, tomahawk throwing, archery, BB gun shooting, memory games, survival shelter building, lashings and the construction of a catapult that shot potatoes (Troop 238's flew 18 yards).
On Sunday morning, Troop 238 also attended a Native American vespers service, which was very interesting and something the Scouts hadn't experienced before.
