On August 21, Southport selectmen Smith Climo, Gerry Gamage and Mary Lou Koskela drafted a town warrant article asking Southport residents for permission to secure funding to purchase the former Ruth Gardener property. The town meeting will be at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 18.

The town received a $1,636 dividend check from the Maine Municipal Association, which will be added to the budget as a credit, according to selectmen.

Before the meeting adjourned, selectmen also unanimously approved the application for a float in Cozy Harbor, off the public landing next to Oliver's Restaurant.
