A Boothbay Harbor Board of Appeals hearing scheduled for 6 p.m. inside the Boothbay Harbor Fire Station on July 9. The case concerns William J. Sheckley, owner of the Harbor Theatre, appealing for a variance to display a sign listing movie titles on his place of business.

Currently, Boothbay Harbor's zoning ordinances do not allow for a 28-inch by 98-inch LED sign. Sheckley intends to prove his sign would meet the town's criteria in order for the proposed sign to be approved by the board.
