All Saints’ season ends with Rev. John Ineson Sept. 2 and 9
The Reverend John Ineson is well known to many people in the area as a retired local minister and as a singer songwriter who often chooses to illustrate a point in his sermon with a song. A native of Rochester, New Hampshire, Ineson earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of New Hampshire and a bachelor in theology degree from Berkeley Divinity School in New Haven, Connecticut. From 1981-1984 he was chaplain of Colby College and from 1984 to 1995 he was rector of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Newcastle. For the next eleven years he was vicar of St. Barnabas, Augusta, where his wife Hannah served as organist. During the winter he is seasonal assistant at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church on Marco Island, Florida.
John and Hannah owned and operated a macrobiotic education center in Waldoboro for 10 years. Ineson is the author of “The Way of Life, Macrobiotics and the Spirit of Christianity.” He has lectured and led workshops in health, wholeness and healing for many years and has an active ministry in the laying on of hands for healing.
Rev. Ineson will celebrate Holy Communion at the 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. services on Sept. 2 and 9. After the 10 a.m. services refreshments will be served on the church porch. On Tuesday, Sept. 4 at 9 a.m. Ineson will lead a discussion group on the church porch. All Saints welcomes people of all faiths to services and to the discussion groups.
All Saints by-the-Sea is on Southport Island on All Saints Road about two miles on your left as you drive south on Route 238 (look for the Episcopal Church sign by the side of the road). Parking is available along Route 238, or if necessary, in the limited number of handicapped parking spaces off All Saints Road. A golf cart will ferry persons from the handicapped lot to the church steps. You may also come to church by private boat or by the tour boat Novelty, which leaves Boothbay Harbor from Pier 8 at 9 a.m. Novelty picks up passengers from the church dock at 11:40 a.m. for return to Pier 8. The very beautiful and simple wood chapel is open for quiet prayer and meditation during the week. More information about the church and its history can be found at http://allsaintssouthport.org.
