Winter Carnival fundraiser March 22

Come help the Southport Central School sixth graders raise money for their spring trip by attending the fifth annual Winter Carnival at the Southport Town Hall on Saturday, March 22. The three sixth grade boys have been working hard this year raising money for the trip, which they have planned by themselves, and they hope to raise more money at the Winter Carnival.
Doors will open at 4 p.m. for a preview of auction items and there will be games and prizes for the children, followed by a chowder supper at 5 p.m. The chowder is being prepared by a restaurant owner.
At 6:30 p.m., a boatload of auction items will be sold to the highest bidder and raffle drawings will be held. Donations have been received from accomplished artists like Charlie Hewitt, Robin Brooks, Monte Toon, Lari Washburn, Christina Eighmey, Lynn Seitzer, Lesia Sochor, Tim Christens, Mike Lewis, as well as photography from Emmanuel Panagiotakis (SIC), Robert Mitchell and others.
They have donations by Maine writers, businesses and craftspeople; items made from wood, leather, wood, pottery and more. There are also a cottage stay for a week on the island, many hotel nights, a week sailing lessons, lots of cruises and Maine activities.
Dinner admission is $8 for adults, $5 for children or $25 per family. Admission to the auction and raffle drawing is free.
