"Black Panther" - (PG-13; 2 hours, 14 minutes) - In celebration of Juneteenth see film that was considered groundbreaking in showcasing a Black superhero cast with a predominantly Black creative team. After the death of his father, T'Challa returns home to the African nation of Wakanda to take his rightful place as king. When a powerful enemy suddenly reappears, T'Challa's mettle as king -- and as Black Panther -- gets tested when he's drawn into a conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. Faced with treachery and danger, the young king must rally his allies and release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people. "Jane Austen Wrecked My Life" - (R; 1 hour, 34 minutes, in English and French w/ English subtitles) - Agathe, hopelessly clumsy yet charming and full of contradictions, finds herself in desperate singlehood. Her dream is to experience love akin to a Jane Austen novel and her ultimate aspiration is to become a writer. Instead, she spends her days selling books in the legendary British Bookshop, Shakespeare & Co, in Paris. Invited to the Jane Austen Writers' Residency in England, she must confront her insecurities to finally fulfill her ambition of becoming a novelist and put an end to wasting her sentimental life. Free - "The Hero of Color City" - (G; running time 1 hour, 17 minutes) - First of three films in the Color Our World series presented in collaboration iwth Skidompha library's Summer Reading Program. Before the screening, join us in the theater lobby at noon for a special activity hosted by Skidompha—fun for all ages! Film producer John Eraklis will provide a brief introduction to the film. A diverse band of crayons strive to protect not only their magical multihued homeland but the imagination of children everywhere from a terrifying monster. Crayons (Christina Ricci, Rosie Perez, Craig Ferguson) team up to save the day when an unfinished drawing tries to steal all of the world's color. Sunday, June 22 at 1 p.m.
Free - "Just Us" - (NR; 54 minutes) - A powerful and deeply humanizing documentary from Dr. Carey Candrian, associate professor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Through candid interviews with 26 individuals, the film explores what it means to live in a world where safety and inclusion are not guaranteed—especially for those in the LGBTQ community, offering an urgent and compassionate call to recognize our shared humanity and the pressing need for inclusive change. The film will be followed by a panel discussion led by Lincoln County Unity and Community Pride. Sunday, June 22 at 5 p.m.
